What to do when you are feeling down...

I have a few strategies in place for those low moments. I would like to share a few with you in my blog, starting with this ...
  1. Make a list, in point form, what is upsetting you - because how do we know what we want if we can't accept this is what we don't want... and don't you dare sweep it under the rug because as we all know the monster just grows bigger and uglier! Soooo, really let it out and let out all of those ugly words!!! Go... write... yes now...

  2. THEN... once you have made your list of uglies (this is what has been filling your head, now you have dumped them onto paper- good work!) go through that list and find all of the negative words and circle them. Now starting with the first nasty, ugly word  - ask yourself "where did this belief come from? And journal on that. Keep asking "and why do I feel like / think like that? This is going to be a bit tough but so worth it. When you feel the anger and / or sadness bubble up, let it flow out, like a water damn letting go.

  3. Next step: use a thesaurus or use thesaurus.com. On that page find the antonym and make sure this new positive word feels so good to you before you write it down (see picture to the left). Make sure that nasty word is crossed out and replaced with the positive word and move on to the next one. Now journal on how trying that new word on. how does that feel? Look? Sound?

  4. Now take all of those new words and write a simple list of just those words. Put those words up on your wall or mirror TODAY and simply look at and read those words daily for the next 30 days. Now you know what they track back to, the story and how you learned it AND now, the direction you want your life to go instead. The story matters, you matter and you also, have the ability to change your life and create new stories.
