I love the word inspiration because I hear the word spirit. Now this word could mean many things to many people and that is what I ask them: “What does inspiration or spirit mean to you?” Some people have made jokes by saying that alcoholic beverages are spirits. Now, seriously (as a side note) let that one land. As a child of alcoholic parents, I’ve got to say- as an adult myself now – I can see how the adults in my life were acting out like bizarre spirits- like something from a movie. And when I used to experiment with drinking (or deliberately get drunk) - I became all kinds of interesting characters too! A unique perspective – and inspiring? Maybe, for some. Indeed, though, it is a strategy.
Then there is creative inspiration like art, performance, designing a program or just about anything, usually starts with inspiration. I often hear people say that they need to be “inspired” before they can be creative. And what does that mean? Is there a different state than from the “normal” day to day? Where does this state come from? Could we activate this state somehow? Something in your environment, a song, witnessing someone doing something incredible, watching a movie, reading a book, meditating, going to a class, conversations with a family member, friend or mentor …
The spark may come from outside of you but the response, the feeling and the fire begins within you. < Tweet this >
Try answering these questions. Maybe even make a few notes:
We all have strategies to how we do EVERYTHING and sometimes we can remove steps and add in steps to change our outcomes. Yes, it’s true!
I always like to ask if there would there be any conflict to you living this way and if anything comes up- include that in how you approach your new strategy; add in or take away a step.
You really can remap your life this way.
You can be more inspired or in spirit more often. You can inspire more people from an insired place...
I find that inspiring!
